The latest advance in LASIK is the use of wavefront technology to evaluate eyes for optical imperfections. It is the same technology that is used to reduce distortion in telescopes thus improving resolution. In the human eye, these distortions are measured with a wavefront abberometer and the LASIK treatment is modified to improve the chances of achieving 20/20 visual acuity.
